Some people pirate movies because they can’t afford to actually buy them off the shelf and others do it just so that they can save the few dollars that would have been spent on a legitimate copy of the film. 10. Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End (2007)
This is the third film of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise and became the highest grossing film of the year, after doing business worth $963 million. This movie about Jack Sparrow and his adventures in the sea was downloaded illegally more than 14 million times.
9. The Incredible Hulk (2008)
This is the second movie based on the Marvel superhero “Hulk”. The first one was released in 2003 and was named “Hulk”. The first movie failed to impress the public and the second was an attempt to revive public interest in the superhero.
8. The Departed (2006)
The Departed is a movie which is centered on Matt Damon’s character and is classified under the Crime genre. It made $290 million worldwide and it has also been pirated by 14 million users.
7. Kick-Ass (2010)
This is a superhero comedy and is the film version of a comic of the same name. It was beaten by 66 films on the box office that year and the titles ahead of it include Hot Tub Time Machine and Dinner for Schmucks.

This movie, which is about three guys who go to Vegas for a bachelor party but everything goes wrong, made $467 worldwide through ticket sales and was downloaded over the internet 17 million times.
4. Inception (2010)
Inception, directed by Christopher Nolan who was also responsible for The Dark Knight, is a science fiction thriller which was hugely successful at the box office taking home a total of $825 million. The cast members include Leonardo DiCaprio, Ellen Page and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
3. Transformers (2007)
This science fiction film built up tremendous hype and a massive build-up prior to its release. It proved to be a commercial success as well earning $710 million.

This is the second movie in the trilogy of Batman movies by director Christopher Nolan. This movie features the showdown between the Joker and Batman himself. Pirated 19 million times, The Dark Knight gives one of the last performances of Heath Ledger, who died a short while after the completion of filming.

Guessing the number one of this list would not have been too difficult, with Avatar taking the top spot having been downloaded illegally 21 million times. The director of Titanic, which was the highest grossing film of the time, returned to make this science fiction epic.
