Top 10 Things To Avoid Cancer

Cancer is the deadly disease that is feared most by the present society. It can best avoided by detection through regular screenings. Researchers feel that one-third of cancer can be prevented by improved lifestyles, weight management, proper nutrition and regular exercise. Here we present the top 10 things that can be done to avoid cancer.

10. Maintain a balanced diet

Choose a balanced diet with a variety of foods along with other supplements. Certain supplements such as Folic Acid, Vitamin D and Iron must be included in regular diets. Multivitamins are recommended for all ages. Avoid eating excess Protein and reduce your protein levels to one gram per kilogram of lean body weight.

9. Reduce exposure to toxins

Reduce your exposure to environmental toxins like household chemical cleaners. Research tells that breast cancer risk is twice as high among women who use cleaning products and air fresheners. One of the best non-toxic disinfectants that can be used is plain soap and water. You can use them for cleaning your hands and body and for other household cleaning.

8. Avoid using Nonstick Cookware

About 70 percent of the cookware contains a non-stick coating that contains PFOA (perfluorooctanoic acid). When heated, the coating begins to break down, releasing toxins into the air in your kitchen.

7. Stop using your Microwave

If you microwave your food in plastic containers, new compounds that are not found in humans or in nature, called radiolytic compounds are released. They increase the rate at which potentially cancer-causing agents can leach into your food.

6. Avoid eating Sugary and Processed Foods

Avoid sugary drinks and reduce consumption of processed foods. Processed foods are made to enhance taste and extend shelf life of the food. The fat and sugar that goes into making them achieve this goal decreases metabolism rate. They do not sustain the body. Drink water instead of sugary soda.

5. Avoid eating Canned Foods

Canned foods contain Bisphenol-A (BPA) – an endocrine-disrupting chemical. It causes cancer, reproductive and fetal development problems, among other health issues. Avoiding canned foods is the best way to avoid cancer.

4. Reduce Salt Intake

Too much salt in the diet can increase the chances of stomach cancer. Daily intake of salt should be below 2,400 mg. For the purpose of preservation, most of the processed foods, canned foods and even processed meat are often loaded with too much salt.

3. Be Active Daily

Stay physically active for at least 30 minutes every day. This not only improves digestive function but also empowers the immune system and allows for stable levels of hormones in the body. Aim to stay as lean as possible, but not underweight because one of the most significant risks for cancer is abdominal fat.

2. Drink Clean and Pure Water

Avoid drinking municipal water that is treated with chlorine or chloramines. Instead purify and filter your water by using a water purification system before drinking.

1. Avoid Red Meat, Alcohol and Smoking

Research has found that consuming more than 18 ounces of red meats (beef, pork and lamb) in a week increases the risk of colorectal cancer. Though moderate consumption of alcohol is good at preventing heart disease but increased consumption can cause cancer. Smoking must be completely avoided to prevent cancer.
