Broken families are always a sad story. In fact, many young adults today refuse to get married and have their own families because they fear they might end up in a broken family. The rate of divorce is just increasing rapidly like as if marriage is not a serious thing. However, it is still up to the married couple to work on their relationship. Thus, here are top 10 ways to avoid a broken family.
(10) Always Be Home For Dinner
Families that eat dinner together tend to have a stronger bond than families that don’t. When you eat dinner with your family, you get to bond on a daily basis and not lose touch with each other. You get to talk about your day and laugh about things. You get to eliminate the stress from each other.
(9) Lend a Helping Hand
Don’t pass on the opportunity to help your siblings or parents. Helping them is already a clear sign that you care for your family and a good way to lessen conflicts.
(8) Support them No Matter What
There may be times that you are not in favour of the decisions of your family. It’s perfectly fine to tell them how you feel about it but you must still support their causes. From little piano recitals to their wedding day, be there for them and provide moral support.
(7) Don’t Let One Petty Quarrel Turn Into a Big Fight
Conflicts are inevitable. A family isn’t normal when there are no fights happening. However, do not let silly things affect your relationships. Your wife may be a nagger and annoying but you know you love her so just let little things go.
One reason why broken families happen is because we fail to adjust for our other half. Compromise is hard especially during situations where we just can’t meet in the middle. Never be selfish, see what it is you can do to make your partner comfortable during these difficult situations.
(5) Don’t Give In To Temptation
Many people will tempt you to do the wrong thing. Infidelity is the top reason why families break. When faced with temptation, it helps to always remember all the good times you have had with your spouse and all of that going into flame because of cheating on her.
(4) Have a Family Day
Designate at least one day in a week as family day. It does not need to be an extra expense. There is no need for expensive food and out of town activities. Just stay at home and watch a movie or have a cook-out. The point is you should spend this whole day for your family.
(3) Share a Hobby Together
Couples that share a passion together stay longer together. Is there something that interests you both as a couple? Why don’t you go ahead and turn it into a hobby – schedule it for at least once a week. If for example both are you into photography, go ahead and attend classes together to improve your skills. Who knows, this might even be a family business in the future.
(2) Admit Your Mistakes
Pride is something that will make your partner leave you if it is already too much. As human beings, we want apologies when we are hurt. However, in return, we must also admit our mistakes and apologize.
(1) Always say “I Love You” and Do Gestures to Prove it
If you love someone, say it. Don’t be ashamed of texting your wife “I love you” in the middle of the day. These kinds of small gestures will add up in the future and will remind her to stay through the tough times.
