Air travel can be boring at times; specially, if you have to sit throughout the night. There are people who just sit and fall asleep as soon as the flight leaves the ground. But we are also there for whom getting a good sleep on board is not an easy task. So for you who never find a good solution to catch some sleep on plane, here are the top 10 tips.
1. Get a window seat
Don’t wait and grab this opportunity. Okay, you know you have to sacrifice the proximity to bathroom. But, in return, you are getting the chance to put your pillow against the window and wall. Now, can you enjoy this luxury elsewhere?
2. Control Nausea
Probably, the most pathetic experience in air-travel is the feeling of nausea. That never lets you sleep. So the next time you want to fight your nausea, just sit in crossed-legs, crossed-arms tucked in chest and keep dropping your head downwards and pull it up before it touches the knees.
3. Use the recliner feature
The flight manufacturers have designed this feature to serve some specific purpose. So wait until the flight takes off. Then just push your seat behind by pressing the recliner button and your bed is ready.
4. Crab position
That is possible only when you have a passage or aisle seat or your nearest seats are unoccupied. Just move your position a bit so that your back is on one handle of the seat and your legs are resting on another handle. Just make sure that your dangling legs are not causing disturbances to the stewards or moving passengers.
5. Make shift bed
That has the rarest possibility, still if you get to see an empty row then don’t think twice before employing this plan. Just ask the flight attendants to give you some pillow or blanket and stretch your body on this superb make shift bed.
6. Use neck pillow
Most of the people try not to fall asleep on board because they don’t want to break their necks when the plane falls in air pockets. There is this solution to use your neck pillow. You may look strange, but who cares when you can sleep peacefully?
7. Sit straight with eyes closed
You don’t need the eye-cover or the pillow or blanket anything. Keep your spine straight, rest your head back on your seat and put your chin up. Now, close the eyes and start counting 100 to 1 backwards. That will be a REM sleep.
8. Seek a shoulder
Be careful while trying this advice. You can kiss success only when you are sure that your neighbor is not going to throw you out from the cockpit door. Just slightly incline your head towards your neighbor’s shoulder and then pretend that you are in deep sleep.
9. Use the front tray
Finish your drinks or food. Clean your trays, put the pillow on it, and then go for a sound sleep.
10. Mental preparation
Nothing is like preparing yourself mentally that no matter how much effort you put, you will not get a good sleep.
